This would be a conversationt or have by phone or in person. Panama is the only country that offers a retiree visa and that comes with some benefits. We will be traveling on the 18th of March again. Each step moves us further there. My husband has had a knee replacement and both hips, all done at Resurgeons at St. Joseph's. He is basically a walking disaster as far as health goes and that is another reason why we are in sort of a hurry to get down there. I still work full time for Cisco (used to be Scientific Atlanta) who bought us out. But 12 hour days are killing me. My husband is a Delta Air Lines retiree and thought he worked from home he eventually had to go on disability because of all the surgeries and medical problems. So he has been home for a few years. We ought to talk on the phone sometime. It would be easier and a faster way to get information out to you with more detail.
One of my recommendations is to join the AltosdelMaria yahoo group...there are actually 2 of them. You dont necessarily need to give your input but you gain a lot of information. Now, having said that, you will have to really think about everything you read because not all of it is true. I have been on both groups now for about 2 years. I am a very proactive person so I have also done a lot of research and I also have the advantage of the free flights on Delta so that will make a difference. I know most of the expats that are there either from the US, Canada, Europe and South Africa are limited because it costs money for them to travel. I have become one of their "mules" so to speak. This time I am taking Connie some more books in Spanish for the little library she is trying to build in the village, med supplies for a retired doctor that volunteers time once a week in a clinic in ADM, so I know that this is always appreciated. Once we start to build towards the end of this year it will be more exciting to know we are able to commute and have to much to look forward to. The reason we are flying down now is to register our house plans. So we are really excited. My other email is montalcino98@gmail which is also good because if I do not have access to a computer I can get it on my iPhone. I would love to chat with you about all of this. there is just so much information it is hard to put it all in paper. I have throughtout the 2 years kept a notebook where I write or print and paste all the information I get for future reference. We will also be building a small guest house on our lot so that eventually we can move in there and save on rental fees.
