Hi beth, there have been some changes: I finally decided to give a deposit on lot 361 of Fontanella. I will be travelling to panama as soon as my documents are ready to initiate the residency status I will probably be back to Panama within the next too weeks. Don't worry, ADM will pull you back soon, My regards to Greg. Abilio.

Hi, Greg, I just got your message, thanks The company that I retired from in feb. 2006 called me back in sep. 2007 due to a crisis of poor planning and I am back to work at least for the time being I have to get back to Panama asap; I can't wait to negociate my residency but as you can see, I need the approval of my employer to take time off again. See you soon; by the way if you talk to someone who has been there longer, I would like to know if my decision of Santiago over fontanella is a good one. Thanks, Abilio.

Hi, I am in the process of negociating in Santiago
Apostol I like the extra coolnes of 900 meters above sea level .I love the river but it is there for me too. (although a little further). I see that almost everyone is in the lower areas Greg and Beth, I was there for a very short time; I had to return to Miami ahead of schedule due to a small emergency. Please, fill me in. I need help with your input (make me feel at home). I am dealing with Carlos Camano. Looking forward to meet you, thanks for the oportunity and for allowing me to share your obvious openmindedness.

Hi! Our lot is number 10, Calle Atahualpa. It's close to Larry and Honey's B&B. We won't start the construction for a while yet, hopefully next year. Anyway, good luck to you!

About the tax exemption: I read in internationalliving.com that the 20 years tax break was extended for building permits obtained until the end of 2009. So which info is the correct one?

Hi, Beth & Greg. Thanks for the welcome note. I know you are excited about starting your building process. We have been anxious to get to the point when we can start designing our place. So you have a head start on us. I assume you have already got your house plans and have selected a builder.

We have some friends who just came back from ADM a couple of weeks ago. They were looking for architects and talking to builders, etc. They learned that the 20-year property tax exemption is no longer available (unless you had your building permit before last fall). It looks like some tax exemptions may be available, but now they are dependant on the value of your house. Also, the Pensionardo visa rules may be changing this year. Your timing for making the move may be good. On the other hand, things seem to be working against us.

Good luck on your plans. We would be interested to have you share any advise you might have, and keep us updated on your progress.
........Rick
